I'm hijacking my own blog. The new blog name is Days of Our Lives. The new focus of this blog is to offer information that is helpful not only to my own family, but to others as well. I hope to pass along specific information about specific people- both related to me and unrelated to me- that I have come across in my 23 years of personal family history research.
I have just completed my first course at National Institute for Genealogical Studies. I hope to eventually become a certified professional genealogist. That certification, along with my Masters in Library and Information Studies from University of Oklahoma, will (hopefully) get me my dream job working in a genealogy research library.
Now, so you can get to know me a little better on a personal level, here's my previous bio:
Who am I? That changes from day to day. In my heart, I'm a 3 year old in a leapord print mini skirt with pigtails expecting something great to happen soon and believing that I can achieve whatever my heart desires. (Someday I'll post the pic that goes with this description) On the outside, I'm the mid-life version of that 3-year-old. The one that's been knocked on her bum a time or two and who's been told a million times that she can't achieve her dreams. But I'm gettin' up off the ground, dustin' myself off and gettin' back in the game. Do I smell a mid-life crisis coming on?? I think not. Firstly- you only feel middle-aged on the days when life has knocked you on your bum and you don't have the strength to get back up again. And that's not me today. :) Secondly- this is no crisis, dear. No. No mid-life crisis for me. I think it's more of a re-adolescence. More of a time when I still have the strength to get up and keep going, still cling to the belief that I can achieve my dreams if I try hard enough, and still don't care what anyone thinks of me 'cause I'm gonna be me no matter whether you like me or not! :) So come along for the ride- it's gonna be great!
Now about the journal...I guess I'm keeping this journal/blog/whatever-you-want-to-call-it in part to keep the writer's block away (yes, I'm an author aspiring toward publication). Other reasons? Well, to keep in touch with you, dear!
A little more about me since it wouldn't fit in my Interests section: I enjoy writing. I enjoy an exellently crafted book. Among my favorites (and I highly recommend these to anyone) are The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom and A Barrel of Laughs, A Vail of Tears by Jules Pfeiffer. I enjoy spending time with my family. I relax by spending time on my ranch- Honeysuckle Ranch, the place that God reserved especially for me. I enjoy archery although I haven't done that for awhile now. I also enjoy geocaching, genealogy, scrapbooking, live theater (both acting and watching), music...there are so many wonderful things to enjoy in the world. Oh...and let's not forget the internet- one of my favorite addictions!
